Two male Dippers competing for the same territory, which belonged to the Dipper on the right of the photo.

This happened so quickly, first I heard the alarm call, then this other male come into shot on the left hand side. The Dipper on the right then made himself look bigger, begin to sing and aggressively gesture to the other Dipper.

Fascinating behaviour to witnessed, and not long after this photo was taken the Dipper on the left flew off and the Dipper carried on feeding in this river in the Peak District National ParkĀ
