Peak District Red Deer

A few of images of a very impressive male wild Red Deer taken in the Peak District National Park

We came across this massive Red Deer by chance after hearing something in this small wooded area. After walking towards the noise we saw him in the bracken.

It’s best not to make any noise, move fast or trouble these males during their rut. They are our biggest land mammal and when you come across one you see why.

He slowly moved off into the cover of the forest, pausing once more and then disappeared. These wild Red Deer are more challenging to photograph than their counterparts that can be found in deer parks.

With fieldcraft, respect and subject knowledge it is possible to get some beautiful encounters with these incredible mammals.

All of these images were taken alongside my clients on their Wild Red Deer Workshops. Thank you to all of my clients that joined me.
