Our seasons are changing now from Summer into Autumn. The nights are drawing in and its a great time to be out with your camera, providing you with some of the most beautiful and intense colours of the year.

Water voles are in trouble, they are our fastest declining mammal. In the 1980’s and 90’s they suffered a catastrophic 90% drop in their population, largely due to the spread of American mink, which were introduced into our countryside through illegal releases or escapes from fur farms.

One of the most important tools in wildlife photography is fieldcraft. Getting to know the subject, spending time watching, listening and looking, learning its behaviour, its habits and calls.

The “Glorious Twelfth a day that marks the start of the grouse shooting season. To reach this point our uplands have been emptied of wildlife through illegal persecution. Leaving Red Grouse that will be forced from the ground by beaters, talking off in a blind panic and blasted out of the sky for sport by paid shooters.

Global Tiger Day is celebrated across the world in recognition of the animal regularly voted the public’s favorite animal. Despite this, the Tiger is endangered and under threat of extinction from habitat destruction and poaching.

Sit in the same position for an hour and you’ll see just how quickly light changes. The direction of light will dramatically affect the way shadows fall in a scene within nature or on a subject.
